Checklist

Below is a comprehensive list of the questions you need answered when selecting a roofing contractor. Please be sure to contact us if you have any questions.

  1. Workers Compensation Certificate.
  2. Liability Insurance Certificate.
  3. List of referrals or completed jobs.
  4. Copy of Contractor’s License: Check Pocket License. Visit the State Licensing Board Website to check on contractor’s license www.cslb.ca.gov or call 1-800-321-CSLB
  5. A written proposal.
  6. A written warranty.
  7. Provide a lien release when paid in full.
  8. To check on membership standing with the Better Business Bureau Call: 858-496-2131 or visit www.sandiego.bbb.org
  9. Check all bidders’ License Bond. Call & Verify Bond.
  10. Check memberships in local and national professional roofing associations.
  11. Re-roof project & keep it covered-up with roofing paper or tarps between demolition & re-roof until project is complete.
  12. Leave ground broom swept at the end of each work day.
  13. Confirm the Contractor has a permanent address.
  14. Confirm the Contractor has a City Business License.
  15. Ability to do wood work as needed on the project.
  16. Ability to install drains if needed on the project.
  17. Complete job in a timely manner.
  18. Check all bids to be sure all Contractors are using the same materials.
  19. Ability to handle problems quickly & resolve them in a short period of time. Are they radio dispatched?
  20. An established Contractor should have a Federal Tax ID#.

WARNING!! Never give full payment until the job is complete!

Down Payment:
California State Law is 10% of the contract price, or $1,000.00 whichever is lesser, as a down payment.
We at Mission Valley Roofing, Inc. do not require a down payment unless we order special material for your project.
